Who We Are: Baird Braunvieh Cattle Company is a small, family owned operation raising both commercial feeder cattle and registered Braunvieh cattle near Willard Missouri.
What We DO (and Don’t do): We raise primarily grass fed beef. We believe in letting nature provide wherever it can, and we limit the use of antibiotics to an emergency basis for individual animals. We do NOT use medicated feed, we never use growth implants, and for the little grain we use we stick to NON-GMO grains wherever possible. Our fescue raised animals will adapt easily to other grasses (the reverse is not always true), and we strive to market only top quality genetics and beef. Our Philosophy: We strive to make our farming practices sustainable. That means we make every attempt to avoid firing up the tractor, we avoid antibiotics except for emergencies, and we look at cow manure as the best fertilizer for the farm! Sustainability is made more feasible by utilizing a rotational grazing system (called Management Intensive Grazing, or MIG) with the end goal to provide grazing pasture 365 days/year (good weather helps, too). This means regularly moving our herd onto fresh grass and never leaving them for over a few days on the same pasture. This reduces insect problems and helps keep the herd on fresh and more palatable pasture. This system of grazing, used in combination with a free choice salt and mineral supplement system, helps us grow healthy animals without the environmentally unfriendly impacts of diesel equipment use.
